Level 3 Early Years Educator
Apprenticeship Standard
Regular Level 3 Childcare EYE Course!
This course requires a significant time commitment, up to 18 months in total for full-time participants and up to 33 months for those working part-time.
Entry Requirements:
- Currently working in a role that follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework
- Regularly conducting child observations and delivering planned activities for children under 5 years old
- Seeking to enhance skills in promoting children's physical, emotional, and social development
Course Breakdown
The course is divided into two main parts:
Part 1: Main Course Content
- 15 months for full-time participants; up to 30 months for part-time participants.
- Development of skills, knowledge, and behaviours throughout the apprenticeship.
Completion Requirements:
- A FULL and relevant Level 3 Standard qualification
- English and Maths Functional Skills (Level 2)
- Level 3 Paediatric First Aid qualification
Part 2: Gateway and End Point Assessment
- 3 months
- A 50-minute in-person observation whilst they are in ratio, followed by a 30-minute Q&A session
- A Professional Discussion around the knowledge, skills and behaviours they have developed during their apprenticeship, which we practice with them in Gateway!
As part of the Level 3 childcare course, apprentices will benefit from phone and email support from their Parenta tutor if there’s anything at all they need help with.
Fast-Track Level 3 Childcare EYE Course!

Entry Requirements:
- Employers must be present during any learner(s) onboarding call.
- Employers must attend every review.
- Learners must hold a Level 2 Maths (or equivalent) or be prepared to sit a supervised initial assessment on BKSB and must score Level 1.5 and above.
If they require maths and meet the above criteria, they MUST complete work every week via the online course. - Learners must have an established group of Key Children practice (circa 3 months of OPA observation, assessment and planning).
- Learners must commit to attending 1 live teaching session per theme.
- To complete the fast-track level 3 apprenticeship in the accelerated timeframe, learners will be required to complete extra off-the-job hours every week.
Course Breakdown

- 53 weeks, intensive training.
- Accelerated development of skills, knowledge, and behaviours specific to the role of an Early Years Educator.
Completion Requirements:
- Learners must consistently complete weekly assignments and participate in online coursework, especially if they need to achieve the required maths level.
- Attendance at one live teaching session per theme is mandatory to cover all essential topics.
Part 2: Gateway and End Point Assessment
- A 50-minute in-person observation whilst they are in ratio, followed by a 30-minute Q&A session
- A Professional Discussion around the knowledge, skills and behaviours they have developed during their apprenticeship, which we practice with them in Gateway!

Do They Need To Attend Classes?
The apprentice will be required to attend virtual teaching and learning sessions that we provide.
They will have regular contact with their dedicated Parenta tutor, either remotely or face-to-face to observe them at work and check they’re fulfilling the course requirements.
The tutor will set coursework to complete on our
e-learning platform and will agree submission timings with the apprentice directly.
It is important that they meet all submission deadlines to ensure they complete the qualification on time. We might ask for your, their employers, support, if their progress becomes a concern. This is critical if they are enrolled on the fast-track Level 3 EYE course.
