Enhance Your Knowledge To Give Back More To Children

If you're a childminder looking to expand your team and provide even better care, consider hiring an assistant and supporting them to achieve a Level 3 Early Years Educator (EYE) qualification. This course is perfect for assistants who regularly observe children and deliver planned activities for those under 5 years old. It will help them gain the skills needed to promote children's physical, emotional, and social development, enhancing the overall quality of care in your setting.

We also offer a FastTrack Level 3 option, allowing your assistant to complete the course in just 53 weeks, plus the End Point Assessment (EPA). This streamlined pathway can quickly elevate your setting’s standards, ensuring you stay ahead in delivering outstanding childcare.

About The Course

What Is Involved?

The EYE qualification comprises 13 mandatory units, making a total of 61 credits. For each unit, you will need to demonstrate the knowledge, understanding and practical skills. You need to complete all 13 units to achieve your qualification. Please note, for Maths and English, you need either GCSEs or Functional Skills Level 2 to practise as an Early Years Educator, and be included in ratios.

Do I Need To Attend Classes?

Great news – there are no physical classes to attend at a college, but you will be required to attend virtual teaching and learning sessions that we provide. You will have regular contact with your Parenta tutor either remotely or face to face to observe you at work and check you’re fulfilling the course requirements. Your tutor will set you course work to complete on OneFile our e-learning platform and will agree submission timings with you. It is important that you meet your submission deadlines to ensure you complete your qualification on time.

How Long Will It Take To Complete The Course?

As with anything worthwhile, this course requires you to dedicate some of your time to it. This will be up to 18 months in total if you are working full-time - and up to 33 months if you are working part-time. But remember, afterwards, you’ll have the fantastic feeling of becoming a professionally recognised early years educator and set yourself up for a rewarding career.

You will be assigned your own tutor to support you throughout your qualification, however you may be required to do some independent learning.

The course is made up of 2 parts, as follows:

Main part of the course – 15 months if you are working full-time – and up to 30 months if you are working part-time.

The units are based around your skills, knowledge and behaviours which you gain throughout your apprenticeship.

Complete Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People’s Workforce (RQF), English and maths Functional Skills (Level 2), Complete Level 3 Award (RQF) in Paediatric First Aid or Emergency First Aid

Part 2 is in two sections - Duration: 3 months.

Preparation for your End Point Assessment (this is called Gateway).

We will upload your Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People’s Workforce (RQF), Level 3 Award (RQF) in Paediatric First Aid or Emergency First Aid and your English and maths Functional Skills Certificates (Level 2) on to the Gateway portal.

You will be required to upload some evidence of your work from your online portfolio.

End Point Assessment consisting of a multiple choice test around your skills, knowledge and behaviours and a professional discussion, supported by your portfolio.

As part of your Level 3 childcare course, you’ll benefit from phone and email support from your Parenta tutor if there’s anything at all that you need help with.
